Can you learn multiple languages at the same time?
Jan 12, 2024Can you learn multiple languages at the same time?
People ask me this all the time.
The answer is yes. If you do it right.
There is no limit to how much you can learn.
This applies to languages or anything else.
What you need is a good plan.
If you implement it consistently you'll get results.
What is a good plan in this case?
One that includes the following regularly:
1. Memorisation of vocabulary
2. Massive Input (Reading and Listening)
3. Speaking exercises (Language Islands, Q&A, Translation, Listen&Repeat)
For EVERY LANGUAGE that you are learning.
Ideally everything daily for every language.
The main mistake people make when learning multiple languages at the same time is the same mistake they make when learning a single language: Lack of consistency.
It doesn't matter if you're learning 1 languages or 10. You need to practice regularly, ideally every single day.
It's a matter of consistency.
Once you fix that, there's no limit to how much you can learn.
So how many languages you can learn at the same time depends on how much time you have on your day for it.
If you want to learn languages full time?
You can theoretically learn 10 languages or more at the same time.
Obviously you'll improve much faster if you're learning 2 languages 5 hours a day each than if you're learning 20 languages at the same time, 30 minutes a day each.
So yes, progress will be slower the more languages you learn at the same time.
But as long as you stay consistent and work on all of them regularly, you will improve at all of them.
Now go make a wish list of all the languages you want to learn in 2024.
Is there a language you'd like to learn?
You too can learn a language in a few months. You can even become a polyglot if you want to. Get in touch for one-on-one coaching.
